My Philosophies
COLLECTION
When I walk into someone’s home, I immidiately take stock of who they are. The pieces they have collected tell me where they’ve traveled, what they like, what they read, who they love, and how they live. A home is the museum of a person’s life, and should thus be treated as such; with care, intentionality, and purpose. Good design is not just making a space ‘look good’. Rather, it’s about curating a space that matches the soul of an individual.
EARTH
Nature is here to guide us, nurture us, and support us. Just like my favorite book that sits on the bookcase for me to see everyday, I believe Nature should also sit within our walls and be something we bare witness to and experience daily. The feeling of being disconnected from our Earth is incredibly prevalent, so making conscientious efforts to reintegrate nature into our daily lives starts within our home. The things we touch and look at everyday. The materials we build with. How our homes interact with natural environment. Mother Nature is the ultimate home, so no space can be complete without her presence.
COMMUNITY
Growing up, our home was filled not with just objects, but with guests, relatives, parties, dinners, laughter and the smell of spices. I grew up in a home geared towards community, and that has stayed with me as I design homes today. I design not only based on how someone uses their home daily, but how they choose to share their home with their community. From layout, to materials, to ambience, our home is not just a place for us, for also for the people around us.
